Busy busy light content. Have visitor, had league meeting, yeah.

You had baby teeth when you were a kid. Then you had adult teeth and the baby teeth went away. Have you ever stopped and thought about what was actually, physically going on in your skull while that happened?

Now you have.

Ah, yes. That’s a picture of the famous Al Dente, right?
    ;-)

Well, yes. The impacted wisdom teeth made it clear.

    Alas
I had to learn it the hard way - when I was in my 30′s

Looks like a cross between a human and the creature from Alien.

Don’t we all feel that way at some point in the process?

LOL, glad I don’t remember those days very well… I DO remember having all four wisdom teeth pulled by a Navy dentist though… PAINFUL!

Yes, in fact, I sort of have. One of my baby teeth refused to go away in time and the adult tooth started to grow out above it. Luckily, after that baby tooth was pulled, the adult tooth found the right direction again.

Every single dentist/orthodontist/ other specialist I go to starts with, “My gosh, you have big teeth for such a small jaw!” OK, so one of my ancestors may have been a horse. Anyway, after I had four wisdom teeth cut out, the dentist noticed that I still had one baby tooth. There was no adult tooth to follow it. It managed to last until two years ago, when it cracked; apparently the warranty had finally expired.

I still have a baby tooth, center bottom. It’s still doing fine.

That’s somewhere between exceptionally cool and incredibly creepy.

I gave it a LOT of thought! I inherited the delightful trait of baby teeth that wouldn’t leave. I lost only 2 on my own, all the rest eventually had to be pulled as their adult counterparts came in around them. In front, in back, pushing to the side. I was turned down by my local school of orthodontic’s free/teaching program because my mouth was so complicated. But they made sure *everyone* had a good look in my mouth first. So great for a 13 year old’s ego… My orthodontist’s childrens’ college funds must love me, but I’m finally getting my teeth fixed! :)

I kind of hate you now.

Whew. A little more composed now. I can see by the sutures that it’s a young skull. I can see how the face will enlarge and the giant chiclets in the nasal area will become the front teeth. No, I’d never considered it before. Seeing a set of extra teeth packed into a human skull like blades in a box cutter certainly caught me short, and yes, it was nightmare fuel.

Great visual. I had never seen this before. Makes a great visual aid. Thank you for sharing.
