Because content only a few people will care about beats no content…

Stingray plays a subtlety rogue. I play a protection paladin. He has the legendary daggers. Right now he is making me take full advantage of the fact that I have two taunts and a threat/damage wipe.

Rogues to be emergency offtanks in next expansion

I’ll hurt the first son of a bitch who gives it to him.

But everypony knows that it’s Rarity who is the rogue!

  2. LabRat Says:

Rarity does NOT play a stealth class.

  3. Leit Says:

We got our rogue a set of legendaries. He left the guild the very next week. Cherish yours, threat challenge or not.

(not bitter at all, why do you ask?)

  4. ravenshrike Says:

You can almost certainly blame Rift/SWTOR for that change. Watch that turn into MTing within the next year or so.

  5. Old NFO Says:

Yep, you lost me in a hurry… :-)

  6. perlhaqr Says:

I would swear that all of the owrds in this post are english, and yet… ;)

  7. Erin Palette Says:

Ah, okay, I realize we are talking at cross-purposes. You are speaking of WoW, and I was talking D&D RPG. Our TLAs had no common PoC.

    IYKWIMAITYD ;)

  8. Tam Says:

    I’m stuck in the kiddie pool… :(

  9. Kristopher Says:

If you lay down, you can at least get a good soak in it, Tam.

I do like this pool, but the kids sometimes get freaky about a 50 y.o. in a Warcraft realm.

Older folks don’t understand our obsession with the internet instead of watching TV like normal people … whatever was the big deal when you were in yer teens is the norm, of course.

  10. Kristopher Says:

Labrat: When he becomes un-hitable in PvP, the nerf bat will come down and make a rancid undead grease spot out of his character.

  11. Kristopher Says:

And since our lives are not wierd enough ….

  12. Kristopher Says:

And even more weirdness … turn all the object friction coefficients in a grand Theft Auto game to -9 ….

  13. LabRat Says:

Leit- I know where he lives. Should we ever have reason to part I can imagine it would be painful but civil. Unless he pulled something like that, but neither of us would want to take it to a shooting war.

Erin- even with the change in venue I argue fundamentally that any sort of stealth-based class is a bad fit. Something with lots of flashy robes and flashy fireballs.

Tam- so go get stuck somewhere with more breathing room, I have battleground related plans for you.

Kristopher- that’s the most comprehensible Japanese GIF I’ve seen in a long time.

  14. jetaz Says:

I just sent you an email.

  15. Erin Palette Says:

I keep saying that she’s a SOCIAL rogue. The fact that she designed that dragon costume in season 2 only bolsters my argument…

  16. LabRat Says:

Upon perusal I agree with you on about half of those (Fluttershy = OBVIOUS DRUID), though I award you many nerdpoints for the style and quality of your argumentation.

  17. Erin Palette Says:

Thank you! I accept your award and am happy to agree to disagree. Hoofbump! :D

Although now I am curious as to the nerdpoints-internets exchange rate…

  18. Robert Says:

    WHY?

A rogue tank (even as an emergency off-tank) makes as much sense as equipping a Vespa scooter to go toe-to-toe with a M1A2 Abrams. Taking the class that is probably the least survivable and having it do something that requires a LOT of survivability is just dumb.

  19. Jack Says:

I think the obvious answer is that 42 nerdpoints to the internet.

Though that’s a bit on the nose.

Rarity does have some Illusionist abilities, though mostly just doing her own disco shows. So could be dual class with that.

I’d go with her being a 2nd Ed Rogue, specifically Thief subclass. As she does have… compulsions.

  20. tweell Says:

I finally managed to level a priest to 85 on Steamwheedle Horde. Alas, now comes the hard part - getting geared for heroics.

  21. Erin Palette Says:

I could totally see her learning a level or two in Sorcerer, and then taking the Arcane Trickster prestige class.

    God, I’m such a nerd….

  22. Tam Says:

…so go get stuck somewhere with more breathing room, I have battleground related plans for you.

But I’ve gotten all attached to my blood elf hunter!

  23. LabRat Says:

And on the rolling hills of Arathi Basin will she have the Sin’dorei smacked out of her.

  24. Tam Says:

    So what do you recommend?

  25. LabRat Says:

You’re already playing it. :) All teasing aside, we’ve got a couple of characters in the midfifties range we’ve been leveling through PvP. I was just going to invite you to join us when you catch up, as you’ve been going fast enough to catch up in a not-unreasonable span of time. Short version: “come play with me!”

Next time you’re on check your menu bar for a Horde symbol; it should bring up the battleground menu. You were able to play those as of level 10. At max level the rated version is very competitive, but where we’re at it’s two dozen kids with a sharp stick. Metaphorically speaking.

  26. Leit Says:

I don’t know if you read Orcish Army Knife, but Rades actually did a pretty good post on how2huntard in low level BGs: http://www.orcisharmyknife.com/2012/04/minipost-baby-beast-mastery-in-basin.html

Robert: Rogues have great survivability! For, uh, about 16 seconds every two minutes. (it’s a different story entirely in PvP, where Recuperate and enough resi will ruin anyone’s day)
