Minor Ironies

Clock’s ticking down on finding something worthy of making content out of in the time I still have available before the night’s social commitment, but something about yesterday’s Very Srs Bsnss post did strike me as fairly funny.

Peter and I are posting about rape, responsibility, and social realities… and a few months ago he was giving me a drink at a party, knowing that I’d already had one or more drinks but not how many or how strong they were and also knowing I wasn’t at my normal altitude, and I accepted this drink despite already having had a few beers and also not having any idea how hard it would hit me. (Unfamiliar liquor.) I had only known Peter as a fellow blogger until that weekend, not in person.

Heh.

Good point, but you were among people you trusted, and you had seen others take that same drink… And none of us were stupid, either in the amount of booze/beer we consumed or anything else BECAUSE WE ACCEPTED RESPONSIBILITY FOR OUR BEHAVIOR!!! :-)

Oh, no arguments here at all. Just amusing in general to me, especially since in any average news article about rape those are about all the details known.

Although depending on what kind of reporter I am I could add in some scare details about the guns… :)

LOL- Yeah, one or three at least… :-P

There may have been women (and men) safer from sexual assault in Colorado, that weekend, but I actually can’t imagine where.

Funny how we all managed to behave, even while in the presence of what so many use as a ready-made excuse for bad behavior. Strangely, we did so repeatedly over that week, and it was the 2nd week in less than a year that we had pulled off such a crazy stunt. ;)

    Cooks…. Kitchens….

Glad you guys had fun. The problem is that if someone had gotten raped at a party like that, there’s a certain segment of the population that would just say ‘well, she shouldn’t have been drinking’, and dismiss the entire incident without knowing any other details. Y’all seem like decent, sane people who don’t react that, but unfortunately there are still a lot of idiots who do. And that, in a nutshell, is why women are so damn touchy about people discussing rape.

Thanks for the good reading. I intend to hang around. :-)
