Little Rules Of Thumb

If you feel you have to start off a comment on someone else’s blog pre-emptively accusing said blog’s author or commentariat of believing you to be a liar/asshat/(insert political caricature) that will automatically dismiss what you say anyway, this is an autofail. Either it’s true and posting your comment has about as much point to it as lying under an outhouse hole expecting a refreshing shower, or it’s not and you’re just sprinting out of the gate being a passive-aggressive douchebag. Either way, you lose instantly, even before anyone replies and even moreso if no one cares enough to bother.

Do not be this guy.

    Shameless self-promotion
    “I’m not interested in victory?!?”
Then Why the Fuck did you run for president?

  2. Kristopher Says:

    Heh.

Looks like a good Republican campaign commercial.

Hopefully he won’t change his disinterest in victory for the 2010 and 2012 elections.

Or is he just not interested in American victory?

May I add a corollary? If you start your post with “You’ll probably delete this, but”, you’re a jackass.

If the blog owner in question is known to delete comments, then no one will ever see what you wrote. Obviously you don’t believe they’ll delete your post or YOU WOULDN’T BOTHER COMMENTING.

    FAIL.

Gah. Looks like I picked the wrong week to stop sniffin’ glue…

Jay G.: Switch to gold spraypaint. It looks better on the mug shot.

    I wouldn’t delete a comment … I’d carefully edit it for … clarity.

    Yea, that’s it, clarity.
