Orly?

Those of you who also read Kevin Baker over at The Smallest Minority are probably familiar with his Quote of the Day. Today’s comes from Carol’s Closet, The Tampa Town Hall WAS NOT Open to the Public. You can see the whole thing over at Kevin’s. Here’s the money quote of the quote though:

Rep. Kathy Castor made it clear that she doesn’t represent us. That is okay. Next election, we will find someone who does.

Yup, 2010 we’ll get this shit all sorted out. President Sad Panda Barry may be putting the spurs to the giant failhorse that Bush left behind as hard as he can, but it’s cool. Now we’ve got honest politicians who are really trying to improve the country for the greater good so thick on the ground you can’t throw a rock without hitting five! Why just this morning I couldn’t even get through the parking lot at the grocery store without someone handing me a flier full of reasonable suggestions to improve government and lessen its intrusion into our lives. There were so many people concerned with actually doing good works from public office instead of just the next election that I couldn’t even get to the artichokes! Sure, the dork in office in my district now couldn’t be accurately described as representing anyone but himself, but hey, no problem! We’ll find someone who does represent me! And then I’ll get a pony, and then ammo prices will come down, and then GM will return the bailout money, and then my lawn will grow, we can have incandescent light bulbs again, and toilets that aren’t federally mandated to suck, and the leprechaun and I will dance and dance!

Hammered that nail on the head. It’s gotta suck being both jaded and 100% correct.

  2. daddyquatro Says:

    LOL
You are so CUTE when you’re petulant and fatalistic!

  3. Kristopher Says:

    Don’t like unresponsive politicos?

Stop complaining on the internet, join your local party precinct committee, and try to get a better person in there.

I agree … whining on the internet fixed nothing, unless you use it as a tool to get some people together to do something specific.

  4. McThag Says:

I reserve the right to complain on the internet after I have joined the precinct committee.

I reserve this right because I still haven’t gotten that representation, even though I joined.

Of course, neither of the RINOs I am maddest at are running next time, so maybe they included my angst in committee and internet as a pre-election poll.

  5. Kevin Baker Says:

Yup, 2010 we’ll get this shit all sorted out.

Sorry, but I’m not convinced that the Stupid Party has learned a damned thing from any of this. Sure, we can chuck out the Dems in power, and put the Stupid Party hands back on the levers, but what did that do for us before?

I’m glad a lot of people have finally woken up, but I’m afraid they’re just going to go back to sleep when they think they’ve gotten “this shit all sorted out.”

  6. Kevin Baker Says:

    D’OH!!!

READ THE WHOLE FARKING POST BEFORE FLYING OFF THE HANDLE.

(You can delete my previous tremendously embarrassing post now. k-thks!)

  7. daddyquatro Says:

    Kevin! Dude!
    It’s spelled “kthx”
I hate it when people don’t use spellcheck
    Grin.

  8. ~Paules Says:

Next election? I hate to tell you this but Bolsheviks don’t hold elections unless the outcome is predetermined. We should regard the current state of affairs as the opening stages of a civil war. Nothing will be resolved until there is blood in the streets and our cities are in flames. It’s on the way. My advice to anyone living in a large urban area is to get out NOW. D4, you listening?

  9. Caleb Says:

Well, it’s nice to know that ~Paules has his Reynold’s Wrap beanie nice and tight.

Jesus tits people, we are not living in a socialist country. Christ almighty, when I look at the conservatives these days, I see you smacktards acting just like the stupid goddamn hippies did during ChimpyMcHilterBush or whatever.

Knock it the fuck off already, would you? Christ.

  10. ~Paules Says:

With all due respect, Caleb, what do you think ACORN is and why do you think they were funded so heavily with “stimulus” money? Do you honestly think the left is going to give up power voluntarily? And with the auto industry, insurance, banking, and now health care becoming essentially nationalized, do you not recognize totalitarianism when you see it? Can you not see behind the Obama mask at the madman behind it?

Tea parties and town hall meetings have branded illegitimate by a complicit MSM. The conservative movement will retaliate with even larger demonstrations. What happens when union thugs are not enough to intimidate the masses into submission? What’s next, the national guard? You can bet your last sawbuck that we’re in for a spate of civil disorder. It’s going to get more violent. And when Obama is finally deposed, how do you think inner city blacks are going to react.

    It’s not a tin hat I’m wearing; it’s a battle helmet.

  11. Caleb Says:

Hey cool, ludicrous conspiracy theories, elements of threeperism, and racism all in one comment! Talk about the smacktard trifecta, you nailed all three of them.

Do you not realize that you sound EXACTLY like the lefties that earnestly believed that Bush was going to suspend the constitution and declare himself dictator or some shit? Seriously, give it a rest.

And no, I don’t think the left will go quietly into the night, but I’m also not girding up my loins to shoot people, either. Our political system, fucked up as it is, is still a hell of a lot more functional than idiotic shit you just described. I mean jesusdonkeyfucker, you sound like you’re excited about shooting minorities and violence.

    Idiot.

  12. Kristopher Says:

    McThag:

You gotta right to complain until forever comes around.

Want more than that? Deeds, as well as words. This is where I part ways with the threepers. Gotta exhaust the real political process ( more than just voting and bitching ) before you talk about or even actually take the sword down off the shelf.

  13. Kristopher Says:

    ~Paules: Ain’t there dude.

When it’s Gestapo time, you’ll know it. If you don’t want it to be Gestapo time, then put the Red Dawn fantasy away and help us sane folks try to fix this.

  14. Tam Says:

I’d settle for gridlock. Is that too much to ask for? I’m not even asking for Calvin Coolidge. Maybe can we at least return to the salad days of the late ’90s when the executive and legislative branches were too busy pulling each other’s hair to bother us much?

  15. perlhaqr Says:

Problem is, even if you got someone like that in office, half (at least) of the people they’d be “representing” would be mad at being told they just can’t have what they’re asking for, like children wheedling cookies out of gramma before dinner.

“But I waaaaaaaaant a free new car and a free house and a big TV and free healthcare! It’s my riiiiiight!”

    “No.”

Your representative would get ousted way the hell faster than any of these bastards ever will.

  16. BobG Says:

I agree with Tamara; the best federal government is one where it is so evenly matched that nothing much gets done.

“Never blame a legislative body for not doing something. When they do nothing, that don’t hurt anybody. When they do something is when they become dangerous.”
    -Will Rogers

  17. Caleb Says:

90’s gridlock wouldn’t be so bad, I’d be down for some of that.

  18. ~Paules Says:

I’m glad everyone is willing to be reasonable and exhaust the political process before taking more drastic action. Where I disagree is that I no longer believe the political opposition is willing to be reasonable with me. My view is not based on a Red Dawn fantasies, but on the experience of being a conservative academic who faced contrived charges by a campus Bolshevik attempting to end my career. Surviving a purge leaves one forever suspicious and unwilling to grant the opposition the benefit of doubt.

As for knowing “Gestapo time” when it comes, that sort of realization will be largely subjective. I had to cross my personal Rubicon this morning when I reviewed video footage of town hall protesters getting beat up by union thugs. You might conclude that the incident was perhaps isolated or spontaneous, but I do not. I accept it as the warning it was intended to be. And I take the leftist rant to “just shut up” as an attack on my civil rights.

I’m glad to join a comment thread with reasonable people. I just hope reason doesn’t prevent you from recognizing the danger when the time comes. I regard the current administration in Washington as a significant threat to life and liberty. When the rule of law fails, and I think we are headed that way post-haste, you don’t want to get caught unprepared.
