The infamously right-wing noise-machine site Slate debunks the allegation that under Palin’s iron-fisted woman-hating rule, rape victims were charged for rape kits.

Turns out the Police Chief did want to bill for rape kits- he wanted to bill the INSURANCE COMPANY of the victim, should the victim be insured. Boneheaded, but a hell of a lot less insensitive and generally nasty than billing the victim. As for the Alaska bill banning billing the victim? It was aimed at hospitals that were doing this.

Which has not stopped Jon Stewart or the Boston Globe from repeating it straight, of course…
