Hold Until You Hear The Screams

Cat still sick, though no worse. Dog either very pregnant and entering final stretch pre-whelping or doing a bravura performance of a false pregnancy, which was planned and would be much more welcome right this second without all the other stuff. Stingray out of town, building war machine, friend coming into town, meeting dogs for potential puppysitting and keeping me from going out of my mind. Chickens with their heads cut off may be more philosophical.

Content if and when I am able and ready.

I hope things go better for you today!

  2. Squid Says:

Forgive me, but how does one plan for one’s dog’s false pregnancy?

  3. DaddyBear Says:

Take care of the family. We’ll be here when you get through this rough patch. Good luck!

  4. Tam Says:

Go run in circles for a bit. We’ll just chill here.

  5. LabRat Says:

One plans for the real pregnancy. A false one follows a breeding as a rule, and at this stage would be far less distracting- give her some stuffed animals and mostly set.

    A false one follows a breeding as a rule…

Hmm. That sure looks like blogfodder to me! Why does that happen? Isn’t it countersurvival? Does it happen to wolves and coyotes too, or only to domestic dogs?

(Just more stuff for in your “spare time.”)

  7. LabRat Says:

Well, it turns out I was wrong in any case and that’s not a necessary precondition for a dog, thought it is in cats.

Could make for interesting postfodder anyway, when I have the time…

  8. Kristopher Says:

BTW, Cranky had to pull start her cat …

    Hang in there LabRat! :-)

Thinking about you guys. Hope the kitty is better

Hmmm, I guess I wasn’t paying close enough attention at some point as I didn’t realize the dog was preggers, so I’ve no idea how far along she is, and I know the last thing you want to do is see the vet again, but are you going to xray to get an estimate of number of pups or just wait and see what happens? (I’m nosy curious, can’t help it).

As for the kitty…..go Zydeco! Hope the new meds do the job without to many more vet visits…..

Btw, I agree with Tam, go run in circles a bit, its great exercise and if nothing else wears out the body, though it doesn’t help stop the brain from running in circles…..

You missed nothing, I didn’t mention it before as I didn’t want to until the litter was confirmed. Her appointment for an x-ray to count noses is next Thursday.

I’ve got my own version of running in circles covered and am currently wondering if I need to ice my shoulder in the aftermath. :)

  13. Ruth Says:

Oh good, I’m not as clueless as I thought.

The puppies should be good to keep you running at least!

  14. Man Mountain Molehill Says:

Hope he feels better. I made a catnip offering to Bastet for him.
